Age Related Macular Degeneration
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the primary cause of blindness among adults. There is no cure for AMD, but an early diagnosis and treatment can slow down the progression.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is common among older people and causes total or partial loss of vision. Glaucoma often doesn’t show any symptoms and therefore it is important for older people to get their eyesight tested regularly.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is common in older adults with diabetes and can cause blindness. Early diagnosis and treatment can improve the prognosis and even reverse the impacts.
Cataract
Cataract is common among older people and causes cloudy vision and an increased sensitivity to light. In some cases it may also cause blindness.
How often should seniors schedule for an eye exam?
We recommend that those aged between 40-64 should get an eye exam done every one to two years and those above 65 years of age should get an eye exam done annually.
